Guardian pharmacy is continuing to monitor the coronavirus pandemic for the distribution and administration of an eventual COVID-19 vaccine. Keeping your best interests in mind, we previously advised you to sign up for vaccinations through CVS and Walgreens via the Retail Pharmacy Network distribution channel established by the CDC. Based on industry updates and news reports, the first available COVID-19 vaccine will most likely be the one Pfizer is developing. This vaccine will have very stringent handling and storage requirements, including ultra-cold storage at -80 degrees Celsius. For this reason, the vaccine is better suited for distribution through the Retail Pharmacy Network program established by the CDC. Therefore, our recommendation stands that you sign up or maintain registration with CVS or Walgreens for your phase 1 vaccines.

As such, we are positioning ourselves to distribute and administer subsequent vaccine versions, in phase 2 and beyond, that will be more widely available for LTC pharmacy distribution.
